Conjuring Cares

Bringing Magic to Those Who Need It Most

Are you a working magician or magic creator facing unexpected hardship? The ShareMagic “Conjuring Care” Benevolence Fund offers confidential, one-time grants to performers who find themselves in dire need. Because the show must go on, both on stage and in life.

What Is the “Conjuring Care” Fund?

The “Conjuring Care” Fund is an emergency relief programme dedicated to the magic community. We know that life’s toughest challenges rarely make an appointment, and a crisis can strike at any time: from unforeseen medical bills and sudden injuries, to rent arrears, and urgent family emergencies. Our goal is to help magicians stay afloat so they can keep the enchantment alive for audiences everywhere.

Who Can Apply?

We offer assistance to those who earn part or all of their living from magic. It does not matter if you perform card magic, mentalism, children’s magic, or are a magic creator. If magic is your passion and career, our door is open.

Whether you’re contending with overdue rent, major medical expenses, or recovering from a personal catastrophe, “Conjuring Care” is here to help cover vital, immediate costs.

You can submit your application online or via email, and your information will be handled discreetly by a small review committee of experienced magicians and trustees.

Our Fund accepts applications any time of year. We understand that emergencies do not follow a timetable. Most applicants receive a response within two to four weeks, or sooner in extremely urgent cases.

If approved, you will receive a direct grant to cover essential living or medical expenses tied to your crisis, so you can catch your breath and regroup.

ShareMagic “Conjuring Care” Benevolence Fund Eligibility Criteria

1. Professional or Semi-Professional Involvement in Magic

  • Applicants must be actively engaged in magic, illusion, or variety performance where magic is the principal focus.

  • Acceptable proof could include recent performance contracts, show listings, references from venue managers, membership in recognised magic societies, or similar documentation.

2. Demonstrated Financial Need

  • Applicants must show verifiable financial hardship, such as overdue rent, substantial medical bills, or eviction notices.

  • Supporting evidence may include recent bank statements, final payment demands, or proof of minimal savings.

3. Unexpected or Critical Circumstances

  • The fund is reserved for sudden, unforeseeable emergencies—such as medical crises, accidental injuries, bereavement, eviction threats, or disasters.

  • Ongoing, predictable income gaps (like typical off-season periods) generally do not qualify unless tied to an urgent crisis.

4. Proof of Identity

  • A valid government-issued photo ID (e.g. passport, driving license) is required.

5. Career Duration / Minimum Work History

  • Applicants should normally have at least 2–3 years of documented professional or semi-professional experience in magic or a threshold of earned income from magic.

6. Documentation of Magic Career

  • A performing résumé, references from employers or industry peers, and any available print or online evidence of recent shows are recommended.

  • Membership in reputable magic organisations is optional but may strengthen the application.

7. Limitations on Use of Grant Funds

  • Grants support essential living or medical costs: housing, utilities, urgent healthcare, funeral expenses, or similarly vital needs.

  • The fund does not pay for performance investments, business expansions, credit card debts unrelated to the emergency, or non-critical expenditures.

8. Confidentiality and One-Time Emergency Aid

  • All submitted materials are handled confidentially by the review committee.

  • Grants are typically one-time per crisis; subsequent applications may be considered for new emergencies but are not guaranteed.

9. Application Submission Process and Deadlines

  • Applications are accepted on a rolling basis (no fixed deadline).

  • The standard review period is generally 2–4 weeks from the date of receipt.

10. Review by ShareMagic Board

  • A dedicated board or committee will evaluate each application in confidence and make final decisions based on available funds and severity of need.

  • Awards are contingent upon verification of eligibility and the current resources of the Benevolence Fund.
